The Tower of Power did a really good job for the first act, with the lead singer impressing and the early crowd getting into it. Steve Miller, at 70 years young, delivered one of the best performances of his career. He included some tunes from the late 60's and his mega hit, Jet Airliner. His acoustic set showcased his enduring vocal talent, and dressed in Miami Vice style, he really excelled. Birdman kicked off with one of their big hits, then transitioned into a 4-song set from their recent album. The crowd initially sat down but got up dancing and singing to their big hits in the last 45 minutes. Neil Shon's rendition of Star Spangled Banner was reminiscent of Jimmy Hendrix. The lead singer's microphone was too loud, and the drummer's solo of Mother Father Brother Sister was impressive. Overall, the concert was a rocking experience and well worth the time spent.
